Henry Davis is a 60 year old male with history of High blood pressure and high cholesterol. He came to the hospital because he was short of breath and was later confirmed to have pneumonia. He is an African American Male He is currently ill in the hospital due to pneumonia.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize typical characteristics of stable angina vs unstable angina
  2. Perform a focused cardiovascular assessment, including vital signs, pain evaluation, telemetry, and perfusion.
  3. Differentiate stable angina from other types of chest pain, including myocardial infarction or musculoskeletal pain.
  4. Administer medications appropriately, including nitrates, beta-blockers, and aspirin, and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.
  5. Interpret telemetry findings, identifying any ischemic changes that warrant further action.
  6. Provide patient education on activity modification, nitroglycerin use, and risk factor management.
  7. Communicate clearly with the provider and document all assessments, interventions, and responses.

  1. Accurately assess and document a patient’s report of chest pain and associated symptoms.
  2. Administer prescribed nitroglycerin and evaluate for pain relief and hemodynamic changes.
  3. Recognize when pain is typical of stable angina and when it may indicate worsening cardiac status.
  4. Monitor and interpret telemetry for changes associated with ischemia.
  5. Communicate findings and escalate care if symptoms persist or worsen.
  6. Provide education on lifestyle changes, medication adherence, and when to seek emergency care.
